Hi!
Sam Landis here! I’ve been learning about and working on instruments for about 14 years now. My very first job was at a small guitar shop in Gilbert, AZ where I fell in love with playing and tweaking guitars. After the owners had to sell the little place, I went to the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix where I learned all about acoustic and electric guitar construction and repair. I got way into electronics at RV and began modifying my own instruments and making pedals. After finishing up my trade certification there, I applied at Collings Guitars in 2010, got hired, and worked my way into the electric setup department where I did all the wiring and electronics for 15 guitars every week for almost 5 years (whew!). I think that means I’ve wired over 3,000 guitars! At Collings I learned what it really means to make an instrument as good as it can possibly be. I left Collings in 2014, worked for most of the reputable guitar repair shops around Austin, learned as much as I could from my incredibly skilled and knowledgeable fellow luthiers, and eventually decided to start my own shop specializing in electronic modifications and setups. Even after all that, I still love working on guitars, and I’m known to talk ceaselessly about them if I’m not stopped, so be warned!
