Call Your Mother
Happy Mother’s Day!
Well, today I was planning on talking about this sweet Esquire reissue that I’m working on, but now I’m thinking not. I called my mom this morning and realized that I’m super grateful to have her. This year has been especially tumultuous for me, and without her support I might not have made it through. There was some crying and some laughing, and more than anything the conversation made me realize that it’s really important to be grateful for all the tiny victories in life.
So instead of doing what I normally do, work, work, work, I decided to go for a long bike ride and start reading a book that I’ve been putting off for a while. I left my phone at home and found a quiet place on the river to post up. People came and went, some loud and drunk, and some quiet and reflective. A handful of dogs shook water all over me and a handful of dog owners apologized. The day passed by as calmly as an unmanned stand up paddle board, and I found some much needed peace of mind.
So now I’m back to work, and this Esquire is definitely going to be sweet, but I’ll tell you about it another time. For now, just make sure you call your mother, or anyone else you’re grateful to have in your life.
Have a nice week 🙂
